Our system is comprised of three independent systems totaling 800 gallons. We currently have 400 gallons of display volume lit by metal halides and T5s, and two quarantine systems totaling 400 gallons lit by metal halides, T5s, and LEDs.
All corals progress through primary quarantine where they are treated for parasitic worms and copepods. They are further dipped as needed and removed from their bases in the first week of quarantine. Should an extended period be required or additional healing/treatment needed they progress to the secondary quarantine for further care, or, an isolated temporary system if required.
There are no secrets to our methods. We use Instant Ocean™ Sea Salt, Acropower™, ESV B-Ionic™, calcium reactors, skimmers, live rock or siporax, Fiji Mud™(display only – new experience), and cryptic zones. We perform water changes weekly at 10% system volume. We also feed Rod’s Food (Original and Coral Blends), Polyp Lab Reef Roids™, Reef Nutrition products, and Rod's Seaweed. All the items we entrust with our livestock are available on our store.
Our parameters vary like anyone else but on average are as follows; Alkalinity 8.4 – 9.0 dKH, Calcium 425 – 450 ppm, Magnesium 1400 ppm, Nitrate 3 – 8 ppm, Phosphate 0.03 – 0.06, Specific Gravity 1.025 – 1.026, and pH average range of 8.1 – 8.4.
